Samuel and Ethan are going to France

This trip is three years in the making.  Travel with Samuel and Ethan as they begin their search for history.  We are leaving Thursday, driving to Atlanta, and boarding an overnight flight on Delta to Paris.

Samuel has a tremendous interest in WW II.  The three great grandfathers of both Ethan and Samuel were WWII veterans.  Linda's father, Sam Hicks, was in the US Army in the Pacific and my father, Buford Hatfield , US Navy, was also in the Pacific. Jason's grandfather, Joe Pappa, US Army served in Europe.  Mr Pappa was in the Battle of the Bulge.  Both our parents survived the war and returned to Alabama, married, raised their families.  Mr Pappa returned to his home in Wisconsin, married, raised his family and all three excelled in their chosen professions.

Exciting times.  We are all looking forward to this trip.  We will be in Paris 3 nights, then train to Caen, pick up a rental car, and drive to Bayeux.  Linda rented us an apartment for our stay in Paris and a house in Bayeux.

Several years ago we were in Normandy and used the service of a tour guide by the name of Dale Booth.  Great tour.  Dale will pick us up next week in Bayeux and take us on another D Day tour.

This will be a short trip, 10 days.  We planned it around the school spring break calendar. At the end of this school year, Ethan and Riley will be taking a school sponsored trip to Europe.  They will visit France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.  Samuel will have to wait his turn for the school trip. Samuel told me he would like to go to Belgium, he had been reading about WWI.  I told him, lets take one trip at a time.

I told a friend of mine to treat these trips like a cookie jar.  Don't try to eat all the cookies at one time.

In the words of Rick Steves "Keep on traveling".
